Shockers Earn 6-4 Home Win
|
Due in large part to first baseman Nick Chamberlain, the Surprise Shockers sunk the Ogallala Octopi, 6-4. Chamberlain went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Bartolo Martínez, who went 5.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 5 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 3. His record now stands at 2-0. Bobby Griffin recorded the save for Surprise, his 1st of the season.
With Surprise leading 4-1 in the bottom of the eighth, Chamberlain batted against Ogallala pitcher Jessie King. Chamberlain hit a fastball to left for a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season put the Shockers on top, 6-1.
"Every time I go up there, I try and hit a ball hard," said Chamberlain.
The win lifts Surprise to a record of 4-4.
