Willis Thomas pitched well, but the Philadelphia Liberty U-21 still fell short, losing, 3-2, to the Beaumont Crossbeaus at The Target. Jaime Cruz, 2-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. With the win, Beaumont elevates its record to 7-2.

The climactic moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Beaumont. That's when 20-year old third baseman Jian-guo Cuan hit a run-scoring double off Willis Thomas to win the game. The home crowd erupted in celebration.

"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Beaumont manager José Ortega.
