Liberty U-21 7-2 Losers to Ogallala
|
Ogallala beat Philadelphia on the strength of starting pitcher António Calderón's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 7-2. Calderón picked up the win for Ogallala, going 5.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 2-1. Philadelphia, with the loss, is still a robust 9-4.
Miguel Sierra had a big run-scoring double for the Octopi in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Ogallala leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from 21-year old right-handed pitcher Bob Heath and swatted a double to center. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Octopi ahead, 2-0.
"António -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said Octopi manager Dewitt Hopper. "He was the key to us winning."
