Shockers Deal Baby Lakers 7-5 Loss
|
The Surprise Shockers spoiled a good performance by Bompton first baseman Eric Martin, bumping off Bompton, 7-5, at Field of the Browns. Martin went 2 for 4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Joseph O'Rourke, who went 5.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 5 runs on 9 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 2. His record now stands at 2-0. Stanley Daniel locked down his 4th save.
Surprise used the clutch hitting of Simon Earle to capture the win. The first baseman drilled a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to give the Shockers the lead, 4-3. For the game, Earle had 2 singles and 1 double in 5 at-bats.
"They played a better game than we did," said Bompton skipper Tyrone Poole.
With the win, Surprise boosts its record to 8-6.
