Plattsburgh Collects 4-1 Win
|
The Plattsburgh Puffer Fish and Beaumont Crossbeaus completed their game despite the rain.
The Plattsburgh Puffer Fish beat the Beaumont Crossbeaus, 4-1, at Plattsburgh Park. Starting pitcher Vern Peña was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Peña, now 2-2, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 2, walking 4, and allowing 1 run. The save went to Luis Mexa, number 1 for him.
The outcome was still in doubt with two out in the top of the fifth inning, but Peña was able to pitch out of a jam. With the bases loaded and Beaumont trailing 3-1, Peña retired Iván Bautista, who grounded out.
The loss makes Beaumont 10-5.
