Billy Goats 4-3 Winners Over Detroit
|
The Detroit Rock City and Colorado Billy Goats provided some drama for the home crowd.
Detroit got a terrific game from first baseman Gareth Holz. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Colorado, 4-3. Holz went 4 for 4 with a home run and 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The save went to George Atwater, number 10 for him.
Shortstop Manuel Gómez made an impact for Colorado, when he swatted a 2-run triple off José Martínez in the bottom of the fourth. For the contest, Gómez was 2 for 3 with a triple, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"The name on the front of this uniform is all that matters to me," Gómez told the Colorado Observer. "And padding the Colorado win column."
At 16-18, the Billy Goats claim 8th place in the Silver League.
