Rogers 3-for-4 in Warheads Win
|
The Amarillo Warheads topped the Bompton Baby Lakers, 5-2, with youngster Neil Rogers playing a key role. Rogers went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Warheads in the win. Romel Saldana came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3.2 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. The loss puts Bompton at 6-9.
Rogers contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Amarillo in the top of the third. With his team trailing 2-0, Rogers took a fastball from Tommy Kramer and stroked the home run to right. His 3rd home run of the season allowed the Warheads to leap in front, 3-2.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Rogers told the Amarillo Herald.
