The Amarillo Warheads powered past the Beaumont Crossbeaus, 9-5, at Ballpark of Henderson. Jim Giles went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2, to lead the charge. Bob Foster went 7 innings for Amarillo to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 4 runs. He scattered 8 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 5. His record improves to 3-1. Beaumont is now 12-7.

Tied up with the Crossbeaus in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Warheads got a boost from right fielder Boyd Barnett. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Barnett saw a 1-1 fastball from Albert Longoria and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Amarillo on top, 3-2.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager José López said.
