Angel Kitties Prevail, 3-1, Over Shady Side
|
The Bethlehem Angel Kitties got a strong performance from pitcher Arch Stanton, who stymied the Shady Side offense en route to a win, 3-1, at Kittie Park. Stanton got the win, improving to 3-1. He allowed 4 hits and walked 2 over 6.1 innings. Stanton allowed no runs. Svatopluk Vejvoda recorded the save for Bethlehem, his 5th of the season.
The Zoomies had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Angel Kitties going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 20-year old center fielder Dave Dooley came to the plate. Dooley hit a 2-run home run on a 2-1 sinker from Shady Side hurler Phil Dyer. It was Dooley's 8th home run of the year.
Dooley called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
The Angel Kitties, now 13-6, have been red hot.
