Crossbeaus Suffer 7-0 Home Defeat
|
Surprise pitcher Phil Monroe had a large part in his team subduing the Beaumont Crossbeaus, 7-0. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the left-hander. Monroe, the winner, moves to 2-0. He threw 6.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 2 walks. The victory gives Surprise a record of 11-11.
In the top of the fourth, Surprise first baseman Brian Klein had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Klein stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 2-0, Surprise. For the game, he was 2 for 4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI.
"I think we did a good job of looking for pitches we wanted to hit and put good swings on them," said Surprise skipper Geoffroy Cadaloba.
