Octopi Lose By a Run at Beaumont
|
In a tight tilt between the Beaumont Crossbeaus and the Ogallala Octopi, Gabriel Pérez was the deciding factor. The Beaumont right-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. The winning pitcher was Pérez, now 2-2. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 6. The save went to Werner Mooney, number 3 for him.
Beaumont second baseman Kevin Newman contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a fastball to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 7th hit of the season and put the Crossbeaus ahead, 3-2.
"Gabriel kept his poise and got the job done," said Beaumont manager Dan Fletcher. "He was outstanding."
Beaumont sits in 7th place in the Silver Low A at 10-12.
