5 Straight Wins for Shockers
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Surprise Shockers and the Beaumont Crossbeaus, pitcher Joseph Sankey was the difference between victory and defeat. The Surprise right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-2 Shockers win. The winning pitcher was Sankey, now 1-0. He tossed 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 5. Rory Taylor collected his 8th save.
Keith Hernández helped his team jump on top from the get-go. His first time up in the top of the first, he hit a 2-0 fastball from Marty Davis for a run-scoring triple, to give Surprise a 1-0 lead.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Surprise manager Geoffroy Cadaloba said.
The 4th-place Shockers have won 5 straight games.
