Starting pitcher Albert Longoria was a major factor in the 7-1 Beaumont Crossbeaus triumph over the Shady Side Zoomies. Longoria, now 1-2, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 9, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. The 5th-place Zoomies now sit at 14-10.
Carsten Woestenberg cracked a home run off Ogai Sugimoto in the bottom of the first. His 2-run blast put the Crossbeaus on top, 2-0. In all, Woestenberg had 2 singles in addition to the home run, while going 3 for 5.
"I managed to get ahead of guys and keep them at bay," said Longoria.
