Vern Peña had a strong outing for the Plattsburgh Puffer Fish against the Bompton Baby Lakers at Field of the Browns. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 4-2 win. Sam Frey snagged the win in relief. He goes to 2-0 on the season. Tommy Kramer suffered the loss. The Puffer Fish have now won 4 straight.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for José Gonzáles? The 21-year old catcher Gonzáles stroked a 2-run double in the top of the tenth inning to put Plattsburgh up, 4-2. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Plattsburgh manager Mike Carlisle.
