"Good pitching beats good hitting" is an old baseball adage.

Well, good pitching also beats bad hitting.

Ramón Gonzago of the Tijuana Toros proved the point at Hudsonville Park, holding the Hudsonville Flanderses to 2 hits in a complete game shutout victory.

"Gonzago made us look real bad today," Flanderses manager Cristián Lima said in a postgame interview. "He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking."

Gonzago had 2 strikeouts and gave up 3 walks as the Toros took the 5-0 win.

This season, Gonzago has worked 52.2 innings with 34 strikeouts en route to a 4-3 record and a 1.88 ERA.
