The Long Island Lighthouse picked up a win at The Lighthouse, topping the St. Louis Coeur, 5-1. On the mound for Long Island was left-hander Robert Shafer. He played a principal role in the triumph. Larry Alexander collected his 8th save. Long Island currently is in second place in the Silver League at 22-13.

The Coeur had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Lighthouse going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 2053 Newcomer of the Year Award winner Ostoja Popovic came to the plate. Popovic hit a 2-run triple on a 1-0 curveball from St. Louis hurler Miguel Angel Vargo. It was Popovic's 2nd triple of the year.

"We did a lot of things right," said Popovic.
