Liberty U-21 Rally to Beat Sea Dogs, 3-2
|
The Philadelphia Liberty U-21 earned a close win over the Maine Sea Dogs, thanks in part to Bob Heath. The Philadelphia right-hander, who is tied for 4th in the SA- with a 1.12 ERA, played a key role in the 3-2 victory. Philadelphia reliever Robbie de Groot picked up the win, upping his record to 4-2. Jeff Robinson was saddled with the loss. The Liberty U-21 are now 20-10, while the Sea Dogs fall to 10-20.
In the bottom of the ninth, with no one out and the game tied, 2-2, 21-year old third baseman Mark Howard won it for Philadelphia. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Howard hit a 2-0 fastball from Jeff Robinson for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 3-2 win.
"We've got a great group of guys," Howard said, "and we're having fun right now."
