Surprise Doubles Up Watford City, 8-4
|
The inspired effort of Watford City second baseman Edward Andelbeek was not enough to prevent a loss, 8-4, to the Surprise Shockers. Andelbeek went 1-2 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Pete Johnson, who is tied for 5th in the SA- in wins with 3, was the winning pitcher. Over 5.2 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 2 hits, with 4 walks and 4 strikeouts. Carlos Balderas earned the save for Surprise.
The Shockers got an important contribution from third baseman Rafael Cruz, who in the top of the sixth punched a 0-1 fastball to left for a 2-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Shockers ahead, 7-3.
"We didn't pitch good, and when you don't pitch good, you lose," said Watford City manager Paul Díaz.
Surprise sits in 4th place in the Silver Low A at 16-14.
