Trash Pandas Use Late Score to Top Hounds, 3-2
|
Hound Pound was the site of a competitive game between the Hicksville Hounds and Watford City Trash Pandas.
The Watford City Trash Pandas, despite a fine performance by Hicksville pitcher Rubén Rodríguez, grabbed a 3-2 win at Hound Pound. Rodríguez allowed 1 run over 7 innings. Chris Franklin earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.1 innings. He upped his record to 2-0.
Watford City needed the clutch hitting of António Villarreal to seal the deal. The second baseman swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Trash Pandas on top, 3-2. For the game, Villarreal had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Villarreal said.
Watford City is now 14-18, while Hicksville is 20-12.
