Late Rally Earns Maine 5-3 Win
|
Tom Rich powered the Maine Sea Dogs to a win over the Capital Hill Interns. The final score was 5-3. The Maine third baseman, who is tied for 6th in the SA- with a 1.050 OPS, was a force to be reckoned with. He banged out 2 extra-base hits, including 1 home run and 1 double. The save was credited to Roy Harris, his 5th. The Sea Dogs now own a record of 12-21.
The game was at a stalemate until catcher Jim Brandt came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Capital Hill pitcher Pablo De Los Santos, he hit a 1-2 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Maine on top, 4-3.
"A great team win and something real positive we can build on," said Rich after the game.
