The Long Island Lighthouse locked up a win at The Lighthouse, knocking off the St. Louis Coeur, 4-3. On the mound for Long Island was left-hander Jeff Tate. He played a major role in the triumph. Clancy Turner picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Robert Poynter suffered the loss. The Lighthouse are now 23-13, while the Coeur fall to 22-14.
Long Island took a 4-3 lead on Cody Hanson's 3rd home run of the season. The solo home run, which Hanson hit in the bottom of the eighth, left St. Louis pitcher Robert Poynter visibly frustrated.
"I'm proud to wear a Long Island jersey," Tate told the Long Island Daily News. "We played a good game and came out with the win. What more can you ask for?"
