Shockers Grind Out 2-0 Win
|
Michael Adkins, who is tied for 4th in the SA- in innings pitched with 55.1, pitched well, but the Athletic Club KC U-21 still fell short, losing, 2-0, to the Surprise Shockers at Shockers Field. Arvin Lawton picked up the win with 7 innings of work. He allowed no runs on 8 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 3. On the season, he is now 2-2. Carlos Balderas recorded his 10th save for Surprise.
The U-21 had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Shockers going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 21-year old first baseman Josh Molyneaux came to the plate. Molyneaux hit a 2-run double on a first pitch fastball from Athletic Club KC hurler Michael Adkins. It was Molyneaux's 6th double of the year.
"Nice win for us," said Molyneaux. "Now we'll go after the next one."
The U-21, at 23-15, have lost 5 straight games.
