Buchanan Stars in 6-4 Mockingbirds Win
|
The Memphis Mockingbirds defeated the Echo Park Lakers by the score of 6-4, with the biggest share of the credit going to left fielder Will Buchanan. Buchanan went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2 for the Mockingbirds on the day. P.J. O'Day, the winner, improved to 2-1. He held Echo Park to no runs on 5 hits over 7 innings, while racking up 8 strikeouts. David Thornton locked down his 4th save.
In the top of the first, Buchanan pounced on a 2-1 slider from Conor March and hit a 2-run home run. It put Memphis on top, 2-0.
"It was a solid, all-around game for us," said Memphis manager Beau Carsten.
By defeating Echo Park, the 5th-place Mockingbirds improved to 18-19.
