Fans of the Tijuana Toros who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a Tijuana win over the visiting Plattsburgh Puffer Fish, 2-1. Pedro Rodríguez started for the home team against Chin-seok Kim. Pedro Rodríguez earned accolades for his performance.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Toros had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the third, when shortstop Martin Drake hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Chin-seok Kim and made the score 2-0, Toros. Drake was 3 for 4 with 3 singles.

"Our guys are never satisfied," said Tijuana manager Milton Mathews.
