Octopi Defeat Ducks, 5-4
|
Fans of the Ogallala Octopi who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a Ogallala win over the visiting Long Island Ducks, 5-4, in 11 innings. Max Payne started for the home team against Rush Moore. Rush Moore earned accolades for his performance.
The Octopi got a clutch hit from second baseman Jiu-ling Dun. In the bottom of the 11th, he hit a run-scoring single to left-center, to win the game for the Octopi.
Ogallala manager Dewitt Hopper commended his team for exhibiting "no shortage of effort."
