The Philadelphia Liberty U-21 beat the Northwest Territory Beavers, 5-1, at Beaver Town. Starting pitcher Bryan Miller was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Miller picked up the win for Philadelphia, going 7.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 9-0. Earning his 2nd save of the year was Bob Heath.
Philadelphia first baseman Edward Hernández contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fifth. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 24th hit of the season and put the Liberty U-21 ahead, 3-0.
"I was able to change speeds effectively tonight," said Miller.
The Silver Low A-leading Liberty U-21 are 35-12.
