Pérez Leads Beaumont Past Shady Side

Shady Side had no answer for Beaumont Crossbeaus hurler Gabriel Pérez, who overwhelmed Zoomies hitters as the Crossbeaus coasted to victory, 7-0. The Crossbeaus raised their record to 28-23.
The standout performance belonged to 18-year-old Pérez. With his baby face, he looked more like someone starting for a high school team than for the Crossbeaus. His performance, however, was nothing short of top-notch. The youngster dominated the Zoomies, striking out 7 and scattering 3 hits over 7.1 innings. Pérez is now 5-3 on the season.
"Gabriel throwing strikes, pounding the zone, that is exactly what you want to see," said Beaumont manager José Ortega.
