Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Surprise Shockers and the Ladue Rams. Surprise won it, 2-0. Surprise starter Joseph O'Rourke was in command. Ángelo Torres, now 2-0, was credited with the win in 0.1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 1 and walking 0. The third-place Shockers lifted their record to 30-23.

The game-ending blow was delivered by Jorge Alemán in the bottom of the ninth. That's when he hit a 2-run home run off 19-year old right-handed pitcher Tim Ashe to win it for Surprise and cause the home crowd to erupt in celebration.
