Baby Lakers Lose Versus Amarillo, 8-5
The Amarillo Warheads topped the Bompton Baby Lakers, 8-5, with youngster Peter Curtis playing a key role. Curtis went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk. He scored 2 runs for the Warheads in the win. Bob Smith, the winner, improved to 5-2. He held the Baby Lakers to 1 run on 5 hits over 5.2 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 3. Ken Leach recorded his 2nd save for Amarillo.

Amarillo used a big swing from José Juárez to get the win. The catcher walloped a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Warheads up, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it changed the outcome.

"The name of the game is scoring runs," Juárez said. "We did a good job of that today."

The second-place Warheads bumped their record to 32-22.
