The Flint Crush got a magnificent effort from pitcher Igor Plomp, who kept Greenport hitters in check en route to a 2-0 Crush win at Flint Park. Plomp yielded no runs over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 5. His record improves to 2-0. Earning his 3rd save of the year was Ken Leach.
The Crush got a big hit from shortstop Ángel Valdéz. Facing Greenport pitcher Dan McFarland in the bottom of the fifth, Valdéz pounded a run-scoring double to left-center. His 1st double of the season put the Crush ahead, 2-0.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Greenport skipper Mike Brown, "and it cost us."
Flint is now 4-2.
