With Late Score, Oaks Beat Bullets

The Oakland Oaks earned a close win over the Baltimore Bullets, thanks in part to Andrew Martin. The Oakland left-hander played a key role in the 3-2 victory. Tom Pegum picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-1. Francis O'Farrell, who is tied for 6th in the SL in home runs with 7, was tagged with the loss. Picking up the save was Bobby Dudley, his 10th.
Oakland used the timely hitting of Leland Orr to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Oaks on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Oakland manager DAshley GoAs.
The 4th-place Oaks have a record of 20-19.
