Tight Tilt Goes to Snowpeople, 4-3
|
Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Ellesmere Island Snowpeople got the win.
The Ellesmere Island Snowpeople withstood a fine game by Tijuana center fielder Jimmie Rustler at Toros Ballpark, to upend the Toros, 4-3. Rustler went 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. Enrique Flores picked up the win with 6.2 innings of work. He allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 6. On the season, he is now 5-3.
Ellesmere Island needed the clutch hitting of Darrel Baker to seal the deal. The right fielder swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Snowpeople on top, 4-3. For the game, Baker had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Baker.
At 32-26, the Snowpeople claim 5th place in the Silver Low A.
