The inspired effort of Moose Jaw second baseman Miguel Ortega was not enough to prevent a loss, 9-6, to the Ellesmere Island Snowpeople. Ortega was 3-4 with a home run and 2 doubles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Picking up his 2nd save was 19-year old right-handed pitcher Pablo Martínez. The win gives Ellesmere Island a record of 4-4.

Bob Ryan provided a timely hit. The Ellesmere Island center fielder delivered a 2-run triple in the top of the sixth inning to put the Snowpeople on top, 8-6. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count.

In postgame comments to the Ellesmere Island Observer, Ryan said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
