Jeremy Foster never let Flint get something going. The Ballard right-hander commanded his fastball in pitching the Beavers to a 3-1 win. Steven Harden, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. The win takes Ballard to 3-5.

The decisive blow was delivered by Windle Poons in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 2-run home run off 21-year old right-handed pitcher Roderick Vanblarcom to win the game for Ballard. The home crowd went nuts.

"We fed off the energy of the crowd at the end," Poons said.
