Shockers Lick Warheads, 3-0
|
Stanley Daniel pitched a gem to lead Surprise to victory over the Amarillo Warheads, 3-0. Daniel, the winner, moves to 3-2. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 1 walk. With this game in the books, Surprise is 33-27, Amarillo 36-24.
Stanton Winter had a big solo home run for the Shockers in the top of the sixth inning. With Surprise leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he got a fastball from Pepe García, who is tied for 3rd in the SA- with a 8.3 K/9 rate, and swatted a home run to right. It was his 7th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Shockers ahead, 2-0.
"We have a lot of confidence in Stanley," said Surprise manager José Montalópez.
