Beavers Take Down Snowpeople, 4-3
|
Ellesmere Island got a terrific performance from pitcher Andrei Demian, but it wasn't enough to beat the Ballard Beavers. Ballard won the The Beaver Dam contest, 4-3. Demian threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. Dan Martin, credited with the win in relief, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. Milton Fisher earned the save for Ballard, his 2nd of the year.
Paco González took Ellesmere Island hurler Will Stephens deep in the bottom of the eighth. His 2-run home run put the Beavers on top, 4-3. In all, González had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Ellesmere Island manager Gary MacHardy.
The win takes Ballard to 3-6.
