McDowell Hits Two Homers in 10-5 Win for Bompton
|
The Bompton Baby Lakers downed the Surprise Shockers, 10-5. The hitting star was left fielder Bob McDowell. McDowell went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and was hit by a pitch, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for the Baby Lakers. Yura Kabyshev picked up the win, lifting his record to 3-3 on the season. He struck out 7 and walked 2 in 7.1 innings, while yielding 5 runs. The Baby Lakers lead the Silver Low A by 5 games.
With Bompton leading 6-0 in the bottom of the second, McDowell came up to bat against Surprise pitcher Jimmy Cooper. McDowell hit a sinker to right for a 3-run home run. His 5th home run of the season put the Baby Lakers on top, 9-0.
"The boys came out and just played their butts off," said Bompton manager Tyrone Poole.
