Philadelphia Gets Riveting Walk-Off Win
|
The Philadelphia Liberty U-21 beat the Maine Sea Dogs, 6-3, at Ballpark of Liberty. The win was due in part to center fielder Lorenzo Rúbio, who was 1-1 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Paul Dunn, who is tied for 9th in the SA- in complete games with 1, picked up the win in relief. Sergio Palmeiro took the loss for Maine. The Liberty U-21 sit in first place in the Silver Low A with a record of 39-26.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With two out, Rúbio hit a fastball from Roy Harris for a 3-run home run. The Liberty U-21, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Philadelphia manager Luis Costello.
