Shockers Absorb 6-4 Home Loss
|
The Shady Side Zoomies took Surprise pitcher Narihira Yamamoto's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Shockers Field. The final score had Shady Side getting past the Shockers, 6-4. Yamamoto went 6 innings and allowed 6 runs, striking out 5. Shady Side starter Stewart Dawson was credited with the win after throwing 79 pitches over 6 innings. His record now stands at 4-4. Surprise, at 29-38, has lost 4 straight.
Michael Cardwell was 1-3 for Shady Side. The 19-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the top of the fifth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Narihira Yamamoto. It was his 9th RBI of the season.
"Being able to play a game for a living is one thing. Being able to play it well and contribute to a win is even better," Cardwell told the Shady Side Herald.
