Crossbeaus Shut Out Trash Pandas, 3-0
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Beaumont Crossbeaus and Watford City Trash Pandas.
The Beaumont Crossbeaus got a magnificent performance from pitcher Earl DeGraw, who muffled the Watford City offense en route to a tight, 3-0 Crossbeaus win at The Target. DeGraw yielded no runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 9. His record improves to 7-4.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Crossbeaus had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fourth, when shortstop Jack Stewart hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Albert Márquez and made the score 1-0, Crossbeaus. Stewart went 2 for 4 with 2 singles.
Stewart called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
The Crossbeaus saw their record improve to 33-35.
