North Ft. Myers Wins, 5-1

North Ft. Myers Gators starter Art Lamplighter turned in a top-notch performance against the Capital Hill Interns at Alouettes Ballpark. The result was a win for the Gators, 5-1. Lamplighter, who is rated as the 28th best prospect by BNN, went the distance for North Ft. Myers. He gave up 1 run on 7 hits. The Gators, now 9-2, have had a terrific start to the season.
Juan Díaz had a big 2-run home run for the Gators in the top of the fourth inning. With North Ft. Myers leading 3-0 and a runner on 3rd, he sized up a slider from 19-year old right-handed pitcher Jorge Santana and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Gators on top, 5-0.
"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Lamplighter. "Successful pitchers do it."
