The Hicksville Hounds picked up a win at Hound Pound, knocking off the Ladue Rams, 4-2. On the mound for Hicksville was right-hander Alex Burgess. He played a key role in the triumph. Burgess, now 6-3, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 8, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. Hicksville leads the Silver Low A by 5½ games.
The Hounds got a big at-bat from catcher Edmond Gray. For the game, Gray was 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 17th home run of the season gave Hicksville a 3-2 lead.
"That was awesome. Really, really impressive, what Alex did," said Hicksville manager Art Manning.
