Puffer Fish Defeat Shockers, 6-4
|
The Plattsburgh Puffer Fish withstood a fine game by Surprise right fielder Brian Martin at Shockers Field, to upend the Shockers, 6-4. Martin went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Lou Anderson earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 3-3. After today's action, Plattsburgh sits at 38-33, while Surprise falls to 30-41.
Plattsburgh used the timely hitting of José Gonzáles to seize the win. The catcher stroked a 2-run single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Puffer Fish on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I'll play 10 innings, I'll play 20," said Puffer Fish manager Mike Carlisle. "Whatever it takes to win the ballgame."
