Brice hits 2 home runs, Leads Liberty U-21 to Win
|
In a tight contest at Nebraska Aquarium, the Philadelphia Liberty U-21 edged the Ogallala Octopi by the score of 5-4. Philadelphia catcher Ross Brice, who blasted 2 home runs, was a key contributor. Pedro Mejía, the winning pitcher, is now 6-7. He went 6.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 7 hits, while fanning 3 and walking 2. Philadelphia, at 51-20, is 5 games up in the Silver Low A.
In the top of the fourth, Philadelphia left fielder Glenn Bowen had a run-producing at-bat. Facing Ogallala hurler José Aguilar, Bowen hit a sacrifice fly. That made the score 3-1, Philadelphia. For the day, Bowen drove in one run.
"When this team comes together and plays the way we can, we can compete with anyone," said Brice. "I think we're going to keep proving that."
