Dodge Field was the site of a competitive game between the North Ft. Myers Gators and Redwood Rhinos.
The North Ft. Myers Gators got a sterling performance from pitcher Thad Willis, but the Redwood Rhinos still prevailed, 5-3. Willis threw 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball. Chun-hua Zhào picked up the save for Redwood, his 7th of the year.
Redwood used the clutch hitting of António Torres to capture the win. The left fielder drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Rhinos ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"We'll sip on a cold one and savor this win," said Torres.
The 8th-place Rhinos are now 32-41, the Gators 46-27.
