Toros Lose By a Run at Philadelphia
|
The Philadelphia Liberty U-21 knocked off the Tijuana Toros, 4-3, in USSL Low A action at Ballpark of Liberty. Philadelphia pitcher and Oliva, Spain, native Esteban Rodríguez had an outstanding performance. Kel Christian claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. His record stands at 1-0. Robbie de Groot earned the save for Philadelphia, his 25th.
Had Jim Klein not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Klein hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Liberty U-21.
"We took home the win," said Rodríguez. "What's not to like?"
With the victory, the Liberty U-21 upped their record to 52-21.
