In a low-scoring affair between the Tijuana Toros and the Philadelphia Liberty U-21, pitcher Doug Mahoney was the difference between victory and defeat. The Tijuana right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-1 Toros win. The Toros win now puts them at 43-31.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Toros had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the top of the fifth, when left fielder Salvador Huerta hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Pedro Mejía and made the score 2-0, Toros. Huerta was 2-5 with 2 singles.
