Snowpeople Rally to Win
|
Ellesmere Island second baseman Carlos Solís was instrumental in helping the Snowpeople triumph, 6-2, over the Quebec City Baby Blues. Solís was 2 for 4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Walt Jackson was the winner in relief. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Wendel Loovens. Quebec City falls to 8-7.
The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Adri Olthuis came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Quebec City pitcher Wendel Loovens, he hit a 1-0 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Ellesmere Island on top, 3-2.
"Anything I can do to help the team win," said Olthuis.
