Ogallala Octopi starter Greg Stone kept the Surprise Shockers hitters in check, leading his team to a comfortable 6-2 win. Ogallala is 35-42 and Surprise, with the loss, 48-29.

Ogallala used a well-timed hit by Tom Howard to capture the win. The shortstop socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Octopi ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

Said losing manager José Montalópez: "Give the Octopi credit. They played a better game than we did."
