Starting pitcher Yachi Hirano gave the Ogallala Octopi a rock-solid performance, helping his team defeat the Hicksville Hounds, 3-1, at Nebraska Aquarium. Hirano yielded 1 run over 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 3, and struck out 6. His record improves to 1-0. Zi-xing Kwan got the save, the 2nd for him this season.

Making an impact for Ogallala was third baseman Paul McBride. He drilled a double off Ernesto Arroyo in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, McBride was 2-4 with a double.

"The effort we put into this one paid off," McBride said.

The first-place Hounds now sit at 47-31.
