The Ballard Beavers faced a tough opponent in Ogallala pitcher Layton Irving, but did just enough to pull out the victory at The Beaver Dam by a final score of 4-1. Irving went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Ballard pitcher Frank McConnell got the win. He's now 1-0. Layton Irving was tagged with the loss. Milton Fisher closed the door for Ballard, picking up his 5th save of the year.
Ballard went in front, 3-1, on Marc Maron's 2nd triple of the season. The 2-run triple, which Maron hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Ogallala pitcher Taki Ohayashi visibly perturbed.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Ogallala manager Dewitt Hopper.
With the loss, Ogallala sinks to 10-6.
