The rain could not keep the home crowd from enjoying a good ballgame.

The Ballard Beavers, behind a great outing from Steven Collier, who is rated as the 91st best prospect by BNN, defeated the Surprise Shockers, 2-1, at The Beaver Dam. Ballard reliever José Mecedone got the win, raising his record to 4-4. Pedro Ramírez was tagged with the loss.

Ballard took a 2-1 lead on Burt Macklin's 10th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Macklin hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Surprise pitcher Pedro Ramírez visibly frustrated.

"Steven pitched his heart out," said Ballard manager Giddy Potts.

Ballard has now reeled off 6 straight wins.
